THE VALLEY ICE CHIPETTES

The Valley Ice Chipettes is a synchronized (formerly called precision) skating team for figure skaters from 8 years old through the sixth grade, who have passed at least the Basic Skills Level 3.  A Chipette must be a current member of the Skating Club of Amherst and be registered for a minimum of ONE skating session per week (Basic Skills qualifies) to maintain skating skills.

The Chipettes practice weekly beginning with a required organizational meeting late in November followed by floor practices Wed. evenings at the Mullins Center until the ice is available at the Orr Rink, Amherst College.  Currently our meeting time is 6:00 - 6:40 P.M.  The team performs in late February between the first and second periods of a UMASS hockey game as well as for the Skating Club's Ice Show when their season ends.

Although this is a strictly "for fun" activity, the team learns the basic patterns and techniques of synchronized skating.

This is the sixth year for the Valley Ice Chipettes and membership is at 11 skaters this season!!!  Anyone interested for next year should contact Elva Anderson, Chipette Coach at 253-3970, this spring to be put on the mailing list for fall.  You will receive a schedule and notice of required fees at that time.  Current Chipettes have first priority and others will be accepted in order of registrations received by October 31st.
