Notice to all Skating Club of Amherst Members    

Upon receipt and acceptance of your membership, it is understood and agreed that you will abide by the SCA Code of Conduct as listed below.

Skating Club of Amherst Rules of Conduct

The following rules for conduct regarding the behavior of members and non-members have been established by the Skating Club of Amherst to ensure the safety of all skaters. THESE RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED by the session monitors and the Board of Directors.

THE FOLLOWING IS EXPECTED:

  1. All skaters and professionals will extend the COURTESY of the right-of-way to a skater doing a program.  The skater doing his/her program will do so with caution.  A person in an established spin takes precedence over a person on program.
  1. Skaters must wear a vest while skating their program.
  2. Wearing headphones while on the ice is not allowed.
  3. The skating of Intermediate, Novice, Junior, and Senior Moves is not allowed on any Open Freestyle session.  Pre-Pre through Senior Moves is allowed on all Restricted Freestyle sessions unless otherwise indicated.
  4. All individuals should  be POLITE, COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL!
  5. Experienced skaters should set an example for the newer skaters.
  6. Only skaters are allowed in the hockey boxes.  Parents and visitors may observe from the bleachers or upstairs lobby.
  7. Clear the ice immediately when it is announced.

THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AT ANY TIME:

  1. NO KICKING THE ICE OR THE BOARDS
  2. NO SWEARING
  3. NO STOMPING THE ICE
  4. NO THROWING THE VEST
  5. NO EATING, DRINKING, OR CHEWING GUM IS ALLOWED ON THE ICE.
  6. NO UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR ON THE ICE (Such as giving dirty looks, name calling, or making negative comments about another skater).
  1. NO LOITERING ALONG THE BOARDS
  2. NO PAIRS SKATING OR SYNCHRONIZED SKATING ON A FREESYLE SESSION

ENFORCEMENT 

Session monitors and professionals are expected to enforce the code of conduct. 

Violators may be asked to leave the ice for the remainder of the session without refund.

A serious violation may be referred to the Board of Directors for further action.
