SKATING CLUB OF AMHERST ICE SHOW REQUIREMENTS

LARGE GROUP

1.   Must be a SC of Amherst home club member.
2.   Must register for one day of ice per week during the winter season (Basic Skills program does qualifies).
3.   Costume will be designed and provided by the club at the skater’s expense.

SHOW GROUP  

1.   Must be a SC of Amherst home club member.
2.   Must register for either one freestyle session throughout the skating year (fall, winter, and spring) or two
sessions during the winter season (one may be the Basic Skills Program).
3.   Costume will be designed and provided by the club at the skater’s expense.

TRIOS/INTERMEDIATE GROUP

1.   Must be a SC of Amherst home club member.
2.   Must register for two days of ice per week throughout the skating year (fall, winter and spring).  The Basic Skills
program, moves in the field, dance, and power stroking sessions do not count toward meeting this requirement.
Once qualified, skaters must maintain the ice requirement in order to maintain their eligibility for a trio or the 
Intermediate group. 
3.   Skaters’ costumes and music are the responsibility of the skater but need approval by the costume committee.

        NOTE:  TRIO SKATERS must pass the scheduled tryout.  The moves included in the tryout will be forward and
backward crossovers (both ways), a spiral, a lunge, a waltz jump, a toe loop jump, a salchow jump, and
a two-foot spin.  The skater will also be asked to show their ability to do a one-foot spin.

SOLOISTS/ADVANCED GROUP

1.   Must be a SC of Amherst home club member.
2.   Must register for a minimum of two days of ice with a minimum of three freestyle sessions per week throughout       
the skating year (fall, winter, and spring).  The Basic Skills program, moves in the field, dance, and power stroking
sessions do not count toward meeting this requirement. 
3.   Skaters’ costumes and music are the responsibility of the skater but need approval by the costume committee.
4.   Skaters (regardless of age) need a total of 85 points to qualify for a solo and/or the advanced group.  Points
       earned through testing, competing, or a combination of both must be earned by August 31 to qualify.  Point
       totals awarded to each category are listed on the second page.  Once qualified, skaters must maintain the ice
       requirement in order to maintain their eligibility for a solo or the advanced group.

 

Please Note:  The above requirements for Large Group, Show Group, Trios/Intermediate Group, and soloists/Advanced
Group also apply to adult skaters.

U.S. FIGURE SKATING COMPETITION POINTS (STANDARD TRACK) (All eligible events as listed below except Adult Division events which have a separate point system.  Points are NOT CUMULATIVE and DO NOT carry over from year to year.  Points are earned from September 1 through August 31 of each year)

GOLD MEDAL  (1ST PLACE)                  =          20 Points (15 points if only 2 in the flight)
SILVER MEDAL  (2ND PLACE)                =          15 points (must be more than 2 in the flight)
BRONZE MEDAL  (3RD PLACE)             =          10 points (must be more than 3 in the flight)
MEDAL OR RIBBON  (4TH PLACE)        =          5 points (must be more than 4 in the flight)

 

U.S. FIGURE SKATING COMPETITION POINTS (ADULT TRACK) (All eligible Adult Division events as listed below.  Points are NOT CUMULATIVE and DO NOT carry over from year to year.  Points are earned from September 1 through August 31 of each year)

GOLD MEDAL  (1ST PLACE)                  =          15 Points (10 points if only 2 in the flight)
SILVER MEDAL  (2ND PLACE)                =          10 points (must be more than 2 in the flight)
BRONZE MEDAL  (3RD PLACE)             =          5 points (must be more than 3 in the flight)
MEDAL OR RIBBON  (4TH PLACE)        =          2 points (must be more than 4 in the flight)

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1.   Only U.S. Figure Skating Interclub, Open, Invitational Competitions are applicable.  Competing in freestyle,
Showcase, Interpretive, Compulsory Moves, or Solo Dance, Dance OSP, Dance Showcase, or Dance Intrepretive. Team events, test track events, restricted track events, moves in the field events, specialty events,
(ex. compulsory spins), or events in Basic Skills competitions are NOT eligible events and points earned
from these events are not counted toward show solo points.
2.   Points earned through freestyle and moves testing and freestyle competing will accumulate toward a freestyle
solo.  Points earned through dance testing and dance competing will accumulate toward a dance solo.
3.  Skaters who become eligible for both a freestyle and a dance solo must make a choice since only one solo
per skater is allowed.
