WELCOME TO THE SKATING CLUB OF AMHERST!
We are happy to announce that the SCA is planning to resume ice sessions sometime in September at the Mullins Center Practice Rink. However, things can always change and we will notify you as soon as we have a confirmed starting date. In the meantime, the Skating Club of Amherst will be announcing guidelines that will be following the State, Federal, and Mullins Center Covid-19 Guidelines. All skaters and coaches will be expected to adhere to these new guidelines.
A complete list of these guidelines will be included with your fall registration packet. However, here are some of the things we feel are important for you to know right now while you are planning your return to the ice.
First, all ice registrations will be handled on a pre-registration basis only. Unlike in the past, no forms will be accepted at the rink and there will be no guesting allowed during the fall season. A list of those members registered for each session will be given to the person checking people in at the door. If you have not pre-registered, your name will not be on the list and you will not be allowed to enter the rink.
Everyone will be checked in upstairs at the Mullins Center main doors and will be exiting through doors down below at ice level. Everyone will be expected to exit immediately after their sessions.
Masks are required throughout all common areas of the building at all times. Skaters will have the option to remove their masks while on the ice. Coaches are required to wear a mask at all times. Social distancing should be observed everywhere.
Lastly, due to the group number restrictions imposed by the state and the Mullins Center, the SCA will sadly not be able to offer our regular learn-to-skate program. For the Fall season, the club will be offering a smaller LTS option for both children and Adults who are working on the higher badge levels (Basic 5 and up). It is our hope to be able to offer our regular Learn-to-Skate program as soon as it can be done safely.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we all work together and create our “new normal” at the Skating Club of Amherst.

COVID-19 FALL REGISTRATION UPDATE
August 17, 2020
At was our hope that we would now be sending out our Fall ice registration packet. However, with the continuing changes within the state and university, SCA has had to sadly adjust their reopening plans.
Here is the most current information that the SCA has about restarting our sessions.
Recently the University Chancellor announced that all UMass students would continue their classes remotely from home and would not return to campus in the fall as had been previously planned. Therefore, the skating club is now in a holding pattern as we attempt to determine how or if this university decision will affect the reopening of the Mullins Center.
We realize that many of our skaters are anxious to return to skating and we can assure you that the skating club is doing everything possible to make that happen. However, our utmost priority continues to be the safety and well being of our skaters.
Please continue to check our website and Facebook page. We will keep our SCA family updated as soon as we have any news to report.
Until then, stay safe.
