We are happy to announce that the SCA is planning to resume ice sessions sometime in September at the Mullins Center Practice Rink.  However, things can always change and we will notify you as soon as we have a confirmed starting date.  In the meantime, the Skating Club of Amherst will be announcing guidelines that will be following the State, Federal, and Mullins Center Covid-19 Guidelines. All skaters and coaches will be expected to adhere to these new guidelines.

A complete list of these guidelines will be included with your fall registration packet.  However, here are some of the things we feel are important for you to know right now while you are planning your return to the ice.

First, all ice registrations will be handled on a pre-registration basis only.  Unlike in the past, no forms will be accepted at the rink and there will be no guesting allowed during the fall season.  A list of those members registered for each session will be given to the person checking people in at the door.  If you have not pre-registered, your name will not be on the list and you will not be allowed to enter the rink.

Everyone will be checked in upstairs at the Mullins Center main doors and will be exiting through doors down below at ice level.  Everyone will be expected to exit immediately after their sessions.

Masks are required throughout all common areas of the building at all times.  Skaters will have the option to remove their masks while on the ice.  Coaches are required to wear a mask at all times.  Social distancing should be observed everywhere.

Lastly, due to the group number restrictions imposed by the state and the Mullins Center, the SCA will sadly not be able to offer our regular learn-to-skate program.  For the Fall season, the club will be offering a smaller LTS option for both children and Adults who are working on the higher badge levels (Basic 5 and up).  It is our hope to be able to offer our regular Learn-to-Skate program as soon as it can be done safely.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we all work together and create our “new normal” at the Skating Club of Amherst.

SC of Amherst Board of Directors

November 24, 2020

Hello Everyone,

The SCA Board of Directors feels it is very important to stay in touch and keep everyone informed of where things currently stand.  Unfortunately, right now there has been no news to report regarding the resuming of our club ice sessions.  Since the pandemic is showing no signs of slowing down and with the recent rise in Covid-19 cases throughout the state and the nation, the university is focusing their attention on protecting their community and the surrounding area.

As a result, the Mullins Center practice rink continues to remain closed and currently we have no firm reopening date.  However, the SCA Board will continue to work with UMass and the Mullins Center and we look forward to a return to skating as soon as it is safely possible.

Please continue to check our Facebook page and website for the most up-to-date information.  Also, continue to follow all recommended protocols and guidelines necessary to stay healthy and well.

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe holiday season.
